Job Description & Primary Responsibilities:
Commodity Procurement/Merchandisers will work with one or more commodities needed by a particular company. This person will be in charge of locating, trading, purchasing and customer account management as it relates to a particular commodity. They are the point of contact for suppliers and external market consultants and support the commodity groups by negotiating cost saving initiatives and cost mitigation efforts.
Responsibilities: Commodity Procurement/Merchandisers are responsible for collaborating between feed formulators and plant managers to provide lowest cost options for all feeds, feed ingredients and feed products, supporting the commodity group by negotiating cost saving and mitigation initiatives, determining strategic supply objectives using tools and reports for decision making around products and commodity purchases, identifying and developing a reliable and effective base of qualified suppliers, driving continuous supplier quality improvement through participating in rapid improvement events, supplier quality audits, training and certifications as required, identifying, developing and implementing interdepartmental projects to achieve initiatives, maintaining complete updated purchasing records/data and pricing in company system, coordinating deliveries of items between suppliers to ensure on time delivery, and selecting and negotiating for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers.
