Job Description and Primary ResponsibILITIES:

Veterinary technicians work with veterinarians to assist in physical examinations, spaying and neutering, dental procedures, immunizations, and euthanasia. The document the treated animal and communicate records with the veterinarian. They can work with small animal, large animals, exotics, and even laboratory animals. 

Responsibilities: Veterinary technicians assist in examining animals to find injury or disease. They perform lab tests, and stock and maintain medical equipment. Veterinary technicians must also maintain updated knowledge of the industry standards and equipment in order to assist with procedures and surgeries. They also must be able to communicate with owners the importance of proper animal care. Finally, they must maintain sufficient animal records and have the ability to communicate these records with veterinarians. ​

Education/Training:
  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology or animal science
