Job Description & Primary Responsibilities:
Sawmill Managers take care of daily production, quality control, safety, and daily operation of a sawmill and the management of its employees. Responsibilities: Sawmill Managers are responsible for operating sawmills to saw logs into rough-sawn and dimensional lumber, installing and maintaining all sawmill/planer machinery and equipment, utilizing woodworking tools like hand-held routers, table saws, band saws, miter saws, sanders, etc, training machine operators and employees of the sawmill, performing preventative maintenance on the mill including repair planning, operating a loader and/or forklift to lift and load logs, cants, and boards onto trailers, ensuring quality assurance of lumber product output, stacking and palletizing materials, grading lumber, maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and utilizing safety equipment, troubleshooting equipment that is not functioning properly, and cleaning and organizing the sawmill regularly.
