Job Description & Primary Responsibilities:

Maple Producers are in charge of the production, collection, processing, and distribution of the maple syrup and other maple products from start to finish. They need to understand the process of syrup filtration, grading, packing, and storing.

Responsibilities: Maple Producers are responsible for the production of the Maple Tree sap, tapping the trees for the maple, and collecting it to process. Then maple producers must have the proper processing equipment including but not limited to: evaporators, reverse osmosis machinery, steam hoods, thermometers, and preheaters. They need to understand the process of syrup filtration, grading, packing, and storing. They also have to market maple products (ex. syrup, candies, nuts) to customers and at various community events. Often times maple producers have to make sound financial and communication decisions to manage book keeping and orders across their business.

Education/Training:
  • ServSafe Training and Certificate is highly suggested
  • Proper equipment to run business
  • No degree is required to be a Maple Producer, however a degree in business, food science, or a related field is suggested.
