Job Description & Primary Responsibilities:

Research and Development (R&D) Technicians (or Food Scientists) assist a researcher or research team with product development projects. They compute formulas, percentages or production-specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures. Additionally, R&D technicians support commercialization of products by working with marketing and sales teams within the framework of the stage-gate process.

Responsibilities: Research and Development (R&D) Technicians are responsible for ​ensuring accurate sample preparation, operating lab/kitchen and plant equipment, maintaining culinary presentation tools, developing and maintaining recipes, computing formulas, percentages or production-specific factors, assisting with scale-up processes of prototypes into full production, supporting commercialization of products, performing wet chemistry analysis on finished products, providing assistance with microbiological testing of products, and contributing to product development and process establishment.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Food Science or Related Field
