Job Description & Primary Responsibilities:

Conservation Education Coordinators are responsible for educating the general public about how the environment works as a system and how humans interact with the system. Education coordinators create programs for all ages to teach them the importance of the local environment. They teach at agricultural education programs, elementary schools, public events, nursing homes, and many other places. 

Responsibilities: Conservation Education Coordinators must create educational programs for any age range in the local community. They must seek out places and organizations for these programs. Education Coordinators must also work with local 4-H and agricultural education programs to educate youth. Finally, they must stay up to date with current environmental issues. 

Education Requirements:

Recommended High School Courses:
  • Agriculture Education
  • Science (Biology, Crop Science, Soil Science, Environmental Science)
  • Mathematics
  • Conservation / Wildlife
  • Agronomy
  • Chesapeake Bay Classes

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Resource Management, Natural Resources, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agricultural Education Biology or Related Field.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft systems​
