Job description & primary responsibilities

Accountants provide detailed financial reports and analysis, project future performance, complete tax returns, and more.  They need to be good at communicating, comfortable working with numbers, and able to problem solve.  Accounts are tasked with taking financial information and making it useful for businesses.

Responsibilities: Accountants are responsible for accounting for individuals’ and businesses’ finances.  They must be able to utilize accounting software to organize financial records, and must use these records to help in decision making for the companies.  

education requirements

Recommended High School Courses:
  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Mathematics
Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance (recommended)
